Welcome to another edition of leadersayswhat’s the Weekender, a tidbit of wisdom to start your weekend off on the right track. Why just a tidbit? Because it’s the weekend!

Ever take stock of your accomplishments and wonder if you’re living up to your potential? On the Fitzdog Radio podcast, host Greg Fitzsimmons was lamenting on the success of his podcast. He wasn’t rejoicing in its popularity or how compelling his interviews continue to be. No, Greg was beating himself up because the podcast is not quite as big as he’d like it to be.

I want to get rid of the breaks I put on myself when starting to go to that next level and then I kinda quit on it. Do you know when you are riding that wave and there’s that moment when you can either commit to the wave and take it or you can pull back a little bit and the wave rolls under you? And I feel like I do that sometimes… There’s always something more I can do.

This is usually the part of the post where I suggest you find fulfillment with what you’ve already done. Not today. If you want to achieve something great, doubt can be an effective driver to push you. It is not doubt in your capabilities or self-worth, it is the doubt surrounding whether you are doing everything you can to be successful.

There is no motivation is the statement, “I’m doing everything I can.” If you really want to reach your potential, aspire to do more. Put in more hours, more sweat, more effort. You know who rests on their laurels? People who are done. You aren’t…so get moving.
